Bob Smith is a partner practicing in the area of labor and employment law, including representation of public and private sector employers with respect to legal issues relating to employee disciplinary issues, equal employment opportunity matters, wage and hour issues, labor relation issues including representation petitions, unfair labor practice proceedings, grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, mediation, interest arbitration and impasse resolution. Bob also represents employers in state and federal court, as well as before administrative agencies, with respect to employment discrimination claims, employment litigation and civil rights actions in Illinois and Indiana.
Bob serves as General Counsel to the Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association. He is also the Management Chair of the Interest Arbitration Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Committee on State and Local Government Bargaining and Employment Law. Bob co-authored Smarter Bargaining II, A Guide to Contract Language for Today’s Public Negotiator, which was published by the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association. Bob frequently speaks on labor relations trends and developments before management groups and bar associations in Illinois and nationally, and has authored numerous articles on emerging labor and employment law issues and union organizing techniques. Bob has a B.A. from DePaul University and earned his J.D. from DePaul College of Law.
